With less than a week to go before New Moon, the much anticipated second movie in the Twilight series is set to wow the world; crowds are poised to welcome the new sure-to-be blockbuster.
The excitement is building to a fever pitch. Even if the movies didn’t have the strength of the excellent Twilight books to ensure great plot and intrigue, the unbelievably stunning cast of New Moon is worth the price of admission for the eye candy factor alone. Some new gorgeous faces grace the movie screen along with a majority of the cast from the first instalment choosing to remain.
Fans will be delighted with the selection of Dakota Fanning to play Jane. Dakota Fanning is no longer a wee babe; this beautiful young teenager brings a wealth of experience to the silver screen that many adult actors would envy. Dakota was nominated for an Academy Award when she was just eight years old. Pundits expect her performance in New Moon will not disappoint.
Just when it appeared there was enough evidence to assume that Kirsten and Robert actually were a couple off-screen, rumour has it Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson are splits because Robert wanted marriage and she didn’t. Who knows! If they are or if they aren’t, the relationship status of these two is the hottest point of contemplation in the entertainment news and has been for months. It makes me wonder if these rumours are created and fuelled by the tabloids themselves! If the rumour is true, Twilight fans will be grateful that it didn’t happen before filming was complete on movie number three. The on-screen tension between Bella and Edward is perfect just as it is.
The other male hottie of the Twilight series, Taylor Lautner is reputedly still contentedly dating country singing star Taylor Swift and we sure are glad about that. They have simply got to be the cutest couple in Hollywood and both possess such genuine charm and appeal. They are an easy couple to adore.
Complementing the starring cast are multi-talented actors; Billy Burke as Charlie Swan, Anna Kendrick as Jessica, Michael Welch as Mike, Justin Chon as Eric, Christian Serratos as Angela and, well the list goes on and on in the amazing line-up of talent and good looks.
One actor worthy of note in particular is Noot Seear. This Canadian bombshell has a relatively small part in the New Moon movie playing the role of Heidi, a member of the Volturi guard, a guard of vampires who serve as the law in their world and reside in Volterra, Italy. Noot would be my pick to watch for the future.
Another rapidly rising star to keep an eye on is Brit, Jamie Campbell Bower. He plays Caius who is one of the three ancients who lead the Volturi. His skin is translucent in the movie and he, as do all Volturi, appears to float rather than walk. The actor’s ability to pull this off is a tribute to his skill as well as some extraordinary cinematography. Jamie is of course already widely known for his role as Anthony in Tim Burton's Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street.
He is also starring in the films number one movie competitor this season, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows; Jamie is a rising star of certainty.
These exceptional performers and the rest of the cast are supported by the much loved plot and storyline of the Twilight books. In this, the second edition in the series, Bella awakens from the vampire attack that nearly killed her. Bella is turning 18 and the Cullen's (the vampire family of Edward) throw her a party where things don’t go quite to plan. Consequently, the Cullens’ decide they must leave Forks and Bella. Bella is heartbroken and acts out her grief in dangerous and unhealthy ways. Jacob is there for her but dealing with his own changes which he cannot really understand. He and Bella are both suffering.
We won’t add any plot killers here because that should be enough to sink your teeth into! Everyone who has read the Twilight series or watched the first movie will of course know this second movie is sure to please. How can it not? Even if it didn’t have a great plot the movie is so full of hotties and amazing effects, it’s worth seeing just for the visuals.
